About ARABEPS

Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences

Founded in 1998, BEPS- the Arab society of faculties of Business, Economic and Political Sciences- is a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to the advancement of research and quality of learning and teaching in the MENA region. Headquartered in Lebanon, BEPS is affiliated to the Association of Arab Faculties, founded by the Arab league.

BEPS acts as a catalyst to enhance the development of education in business, economic and political sciences in the MENA region. BEPS is committed to:

  • Coordinating curriculum development within its members.
  • Promoting cooperation in the areas of copyright and publishing;
  • Publishing a biannual scientific journal for the deployment of the latest developments in the areas of business management and business sciences;
  • Providing advice and expertise for the establishment of faculties or the quality improvement of previously established faculties;
  • Encouraging and facilitating interaction and cooperation among member institutions;
  • Holding periodic seminars and scientific conferences to discuss the most important developments, and to promote the exchange of expertise, training and research;
  • Establishing a network of knowledge sharing and work to forge closer links with other international governmental and non-governmental organizations.

BEPS Mission

The Arab Society of Faculties of Business Administration, Economic and Political Sciences (BEPS) seeks to enhance the education of the faculties of Business Administration in the Arab universities which adhered to the Association of Arab Universities, generalize the developments and updates in its work field through the cooperation and coordination existing between the faculties and institutes in Arab states, and meet the challenges of the upcoming century and their repercussions on the region.

BEPS accomplishes the following functions:

  • Coordinating and developing curricula in faculty members and institutes of the Association of Arab Universities.
  • Promoting cooperation in the areas of writing, translating and publishing.
  • Issuing a scientific journal specialized in publishing the newest updates in business administration and commercial sciences.
  • Seeking to issue a scientific glossary in Arabic, English and French in the fields of business administration and commercial sciences.
  • Providing advice and expertise with a view to lay the scientific foundation aiming at establishing new faculties for business administration and commercial sciences in Arab States.
  • Providing coordination among scientific, service and research centers in business administration and commercial sciences faculties and institutes.
  • Holding scientific specialized seminars and conferences as well as a biennial scientific conference aiming at discussing the main updates.
  • Enhancing the exchange of educational, training and research expertise.
  • Promoting the coordination in postgraduate fields regarding common subjects and common supervision.
  • Encouraging researchers to conduct scientific common papers among business administration and commercial sciences faculties and institutes.
  • Issuing a global guidebook for the society’s members and educational executives in Arab States.
  • Establishing an information network and seeking to promote the relations between the society and its counterparts in the world.

BEPS Administration

The Arab Society of Faculties of Business Administration, Economic and Political Sciences (BEPS) encompasses the following bodies:

BEPS accomplishes the following functions:

  • General Assembly council
  • Executive committee
  • Secretariat

The general assembly council is considered as the society’s higher body. The council is composed of the deans of the faculty members / the presidents of the member institutes or their representatives. Each member of the society shall have one voice. Besides, the general assembly holds an annual meeting at least, taking place in one of the faculty members or institutes. The executive committee includes an adequate number of the society’s members, selected through direct elections. The committee’s prerogatives stipulate the proposal of the society’s annual plan of action, in cooperation with its Secretary-General, as well as the follow-up of the general assembly’s resolutions’ implementation and the study of the subjects submitted by the General Assembly. The committee holds a meeting every 6months at least in one of the headquarters of the faculty members of the executive committee.

BEPS Activities

The main activities of the Society revolve around holding scientific conferences based on current events in which all the faculties of business administration and commercial sciences are interested, and issuing the scientific journal entitled “Arab economic and Business Journal”. In fact, “Arab Economic and Business Journal” aims at establishing and disseminating communication among multicultural researchers, for we are truly convinced that science and research are the best tools for a bridge-building among civilizations.

Membership

General membership is open to all faculties and universities of business administration and commercial sciences, members of the Association of Arab Universities.

Faculties/Institutes are admitted in the society in conformity with the following requirements:

  • The faculty/institute should be recognized, as well as the university degrees it delivers, through academic and higher education officials in the Origin Country.
  • Members should hold a high school diploma (12 years of studies minimum), or its equivalent that enables them to adhere to the programs of first degree. Besides, members should be holders of the first degree that enables them to adhere to higher educational programs.
  • The necessary duration of studies to obtain university degrees should abide by the academic norms existing in the Arab world.

BEPS Funds

The society’s funds emanate from:

  • Annual contributions in the society in conformity with the general assembly’s resolutions.
  • Grants, donations and contributions accepted by the executive body according to its objectives.
  • The support of the Association of Arab Universities council in the light of the society’s activities.
  • The society’s revenue.
