BEPS Annual Report- 2011

BEPS activities during year 2011 revolved around:

  • Increasing the number of its members, mainly political sciences faculties, by strengthening mutual relations and pointing out members’ benefits to be part of the largest network of Arab Business, Economic and Political Sciences faculties. Through the different gatherings organized during the year, BEPS offers its members the opportunity to exchange with institutions having similar goals and challenges, share experiences with other experts, or lead a discussion on an emerging education issue;
  • Spreading knowledge regarding new techniques in the management of business schools, while taking into account local and international accreditation systems;
  • Redefining BEPS structure: BEPS established a new structure aiming at expressing its identity and responding to its members’ needs. The following positions were created: executive director, membership and communication director, marketing director, corporate relations director, and research coordinator;
  • Signing new partnerships aiming at enhancing BEPS links with international organizations: Eduniversal (www.eduniversal-ranking.com), a global ranking and rating agency specialized in higher education, EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development- www.efmd.org), an international membership organization aiming at promoting management education through the establishment of accreditation services for business schools, PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education- www.unprme.org) an international organization aiming at inspiring and championing responsible management education, research and thought leadership globally, ABS (Association of Business Schools- www.associationofbusinessschools.org) a British organization aiming at reinforcing management education in Great Britain in an international environment;
  • Organizing an international colloquium on “Crises, Globalization, and Governance: How to Draw Lessons?” held on April 2nd and 3rd, 2012 at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik. The Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities -AARU, Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi attended the conference, along with several Arab, American and European researchers and deans, under media coverage;
  • Publishing the 6th issue of the ‘Arab Economic & Business Journal;
  • Holding BEPS General Assembly on April 2nd, 2012, at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik. An executive committee comprising business and political sciences faculties’ deans was elected;
  • Reinforcing and developing scientific activities: With regards to its partnerships, BEPS participated in the following conferences and seminars:
    • The 1st PRME MENA regional forum on “Entrepreneurship – Sustainability – Transparency: Promoting Responsible Management in a Changing Region” held at the American University in Cairo in October 2011.
    • The 4th Eduniversal World Convention: “Educating the world: Redefining excellence in the Business Education of the future”, held in Shanghai, China, in October 2011.
    • The 2011 EFMD Conference in the MENA Region on challenges and opportunities presented in the new MENA region, hosted by ESCA- Ecole de Management in Casablanca in November 2011.
